Introducing Mead from Slate Point Meadery!

Labor Day has passed but it’s still a great time to travel the Taconic and visit our store. We are open 7 days a week this month through the end of October.

While visiting our store, check out all the honey products we are featuring for National Honey Month! This celebration of honey producers was started by the National Honey Board in 1989. September is usually the month when honey collection ends as bees start to prepare for winter. 

For Honey Month, we are featuring Slate Point Meadery, a mead producer in Poughkeepsie!

What is mead?

Mead is a honey-based alcoholic beverage that is naturally gluten-free. Slate Point makes their mead light and refreshing, a modern take on the heavier and sweeter traditional styles of mead. Mead can be infused with a variety of fruits, spices, herbs, and vegetables. It is also a great cocktail base! 

We currently carry Slate Point's Sanguine Blood Orange, Honeybee, and Hudberry meads. You can try more mead flavors at their tasting room on Main Street in Poughkeepsie from 12-5 on Saturdays or any day at their Taste NY Grand Central location on the main concourse!
